This spare, simple story is well matched by its large, single-page panels filled with pictures and words, including many repeated phrases. At the same time, one could say that this graphic novel is also a sort of reflective essay about creation and perhaps about what one achieves as one combines words, pictures and life. Jenkins presents the time tested activity of author study in the classroom but does so with a twist – she uses the genre of non fiction. The textbook does not include a glossary, and none of the relevant terms are defined in context.
